Why Cultural Integration Matters at Wycombe Abbey Hong Kong
At Wycombe Abbey Hong Kong, equal importance is placed on Chinese language and culture and English language and culture, and we take pride in our rigorous Chinese curriculum. This balanced approach is a hallmark of our educational philosophy, ensuring that students are well-equipped to thrive in a multicultural world. Rooted in British tradition while celebrating and learning about Chinese culture, we stand out as one of the few private and international schools in Hong Kong that prioritises equal importance on both languages and cultures. By integrating cultural festivities like the Chinese New Year into our academic calendar, we cultivate an environment where students can appreciate both cultures.
The Role of Festivals in Holistic Education
Integrating celebrations like Chinese New Year into the academic calendar aligns with Wycombe Abbey’s mission to blend intellectual rigour with cultural fluency. The Year of the Snake festivities not only taught students about traditions but also emphasised values such as resilience and adaptability—traits symbolised by the snake in Chinese culture.
