Student Learning
Curriculum: Years 9, 10, and 11
At Wycombe Abbey Senior School, students in Years 9 and 10 (and Year 11 from September 2026) follow the IGCSE curriculum, a globally recognised programme that builds a strong academic foundation across key subjects. Designed to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and essential skills, it prepares students for future success.
Our curriculum also includes iSTEAM (Integrated Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) and Entrepreneurship, ensuring students gain hands-on experience in innovation, creativity, and real-world problem-solving. These core subjects equip students with the knowledge and adaptability needed for higher education and beyond.
Curriculum: Sixth Form
In Years 12 and 13 (Sixth Form), students specialise in A-levels, internationally recognised qualifications that provide in-depth subject mastery, critical for admission to top universities worldwide.
For Hong Kong students, A-levels offer a competitive edge, serving as a strong foundation for entry into prestigious institutions across the UK, US, and beyond. In addition to their chosen subjects, all senior students are required to participate in iSTEAM and Entrepreneurship programmes, which are fully integrated into the curriculum. These mandatory programmes develop innovation, problem-solving, and real-world application skills—ensuring graduates are well-prepared for future success.
Entrepreneurship
At Wycombe Abbey Senior School, entrepreneurship is a mandatory part of the curriculum, equipping students with the real-world skills, strategic mindset, and problem-solving abilities needed to thrive in a fast-changing economy.
What sets our programme apart is its hands-on approach—students don’t just learn business concepts, they apply them by launching and managing real ventures. Through this experience, they develop creativity, resilience, and leadership, giving them a competitive edge for university and beyond.
By fostering an entrepreneurial mindset, we prepare students not just for their next academic step, but for a future where innovation and adaptability are key to success.
ISTEAM
At Wycombe Abbey Senior School, iSTEAM is an interdisciplinary fusion of ICT, technology, robotics, coding, engineering, mathematics, science, and art and design. Unlike many Hong Kong schools where iSTEAM, commonly known as STEM or STEAM, is offered as an extracurricular activity, it is integrated as a core subject within our weekly subject timetable.
Additionally, our iSTEAM programme’s holistic assessment framework is what sets it apart, evaluating not only academic skills but also essential life skills and values—including resilience, adaptability, collaboration, risk-taking, honesty, and integrity. This well-rounded approach equips students to make meaningful contributions to their academic, personal, and professional endevours.
A-Levels
As one of the leading schools in Hong Kong offering A-levels, students receive a globally recognised qualification that opens doors to top-tier universities around the world. A-levels are specialised, subject-focused courses that give students the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge in their chosen subjects, making them highly competitive in university admissions.
Accepted by prestigious institutions in the UK, US, Canada, Australia, and beyond, A-levels give students a distinct academic advantage when applying to world-renowned universities like Oxford, Cambridge, and Ivy League schools.
