Some connections are measured not by distance, but by the values, experiences and relationships that bring people together.
For Wycombe Abbey School Hong Kong (WASHK), our relationship with Wycombe Abbey UK is one such connection.
It is a partnership rooted in a shared educational philosophy, strengthened through continued collaboration, and brought to life through the people who make up our wider school community.
Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming senior leaders, representatives and students from Wycombe Abbey UK for some memorable gatherings in Hong Kong. From a lively day of musical collaboration at our Senior School to an evening of conversation and connection at Soho House Hong Kong, the visit was a reminder of what it means to belong to the wider Wycombe Abbey family.
More than a celebration of our shared heritage, these occasions reflected a relationship that continues to evolve, creating meaningful opportunities for our students, educators and families.
130 Years of Heritage, A Shared Vision for the Future

This visit came at a particularly meaningful time for the Wycombe Abbey community.
Several days before their visit to Hong Kong, Wycombe Abbey UK celebrated its 130th anniversary, marking a journey that began in 1896 under the vision of its founder, Dame Frances Dove.
From its earliest years, the school was built upon a belief in the transformative power of education and the importance of preparing young people to lead purposeful, fulfilling lives.
More than a century later, that founding spirit continues to resonate across the wider Wycombe Abbey family of schools.
At WASHK, we are proud to share in this educational heritage while bringing our own distinctive perspectives and experiences from Hong Kong.
Our connection with Wycombe Abbey UK is not simply one of shared history or tradition. It is an active partnership, strengthened through educational exchange, professional dialogue and a collective commitment to helping young people flourish.
And during this recent visit, that spirit was reflected in two equally meaningful occasions.
For Students: When Music Becomes a Shared Language

One of the highlights of the visit brought students from both schools together for a day of collaboration and musical discovery at our Senior School.
We were delighted to welcome top music students from Wycombe Abbey UK, accompanied by Stefan Reid, Director of Music, and Martyn Parkes, Head of Keyboard, for a special musical workshop alongside our WASHK students.
Together with Hong Kong musician Nate Wong, students explored the fundamentals of improvisation and songwriting, discovering how individual ideas could develop into something collectively created.
The range of instruments alone reflected the wonderful diversity of the experience.
Drums, piano, guzheng, euphonium, violin and cello came together in a wonderful blend of musical traditions and sounds. Through improvisation and shared creativity, students composed an original piece and recorded their own music video.
Beyond the music itself, the experience encouraged students to listen, exchange ideas and learn from one another, building confidence, teamwork and new connections along the way.
The experience was about building new friendships, sharing perspectives and discovering what becomes possible when young people come together through a common passion.
For our students, experiences like these reflect the value of belonging to the wider Wycombe Abbey community, where opportunities for learning, creativity and connection extend beyond geographical boundaries.
For Parents: An Evening of Connection at Soho House

While the musical workshop brought students together through creativity, a special cocktail evening at Soho House Hong Kong celebrated the connections within our wider Wycombe Abbey community. We were delighted to welcome parents, colleagues and school leaders, including Headmaster Rob Fox and senior representatives from Wycombe Abbey UK, Peter Warren, Chairman of Council at Wycombe Abbey, and Patrick Sherrington, Chairman of Wycombe Abbey International.
For our parents, occasions like these offer an opportunity to connect with the wider Wycombe Abbey family and experience the close relationship between our schools firsthand.
For colleagues and school leaders, they provide valuable space to strengthen relationships and continue the conversations that shape our shared educational vision.
More than simply a social gathering, the evening was a reminder of the close relationship between our schools and the shared values, friendships and sense of community that continue to bring us together.
It was a fitting celebration of the connections that continue to bring our schools closer together.
One Shared Heritage, A Continuing Partnership

Although the musical workshop and cocktail evening offered different experiences, both reflected the same underlying strength of the Wycombe Abbey community.
One brought students together through creativity and shared discovery. The other brought parents, educators and leaders together through meaningful conversation.
Both demonstrated how our connection with Wycombe Abbey UK continues to enrich school life in Hong Kong.
Through ongoing visits, educational exchange and collaboration across teaching, learning and pastoral care, our schools continue to strengthen a partnership grounded in shared values and mutual respect.
As Wycombe Abbey UK celebrates 130 years of educational excellence, we are proud to be part of its continuing story, honouring the traditions upon which the school was founded while creating new opportunities for collaboration, growth and discovery.
