Wycombe Abbey School Hong Kong - Headmaster's Welcome

Headmaster’s Welcome

“Welcome to Wycombe Abbey School Hong Kong. Building on the traditions of Wycombe Abbey, the UK’s top performing boarding school, we offer a rigorous academic environment alongside a focus on personal development, giving our students a competitive academic edge as well as equipping them with the core skills needed for success at the world’s top universities.

We follow the British national curriculum, including IGCSEs and A-Levels, building a strong foundation in STEM, English, and Mandarin while going beyond traditional academics. Our future-focused approach, seamlessly integrating entrepreneurship, leadership, and our award-winning iSTEAM programme, helps our students develop critical thinking, creativity, adaptability, and real-world problem-solving skills, preparing them to thrive in an ever-evolving global landscape.

Our school campuses are intentionally smaller than most international schools in Hong Kong and further afield, creating an environment where students are known as individuals and parents are valued members of the school community.

Our small class sizes, dedicated teaching staff and cutting edge digital technologies increase teacher-student interactions, creating opportunities for personalised academic feedback and support and ensuring that all students make the very best academic and personal progress.

At Wycombe Abbey Hong Kong, our students develop independence and self-motivation, ready to succeed in their next stage of education – whether at a top boarding school or university – as well as the confidence and resilience required to be tomorrow’s leaders.”

A Brief History

Founded in 2019, Wycombe Abbey Hong Kong is part of Wycombe Abbey International, a global family of schools established in 2015. This network extends the prestigious legacy of Wycombe Abbey in the United Kingdom, a world-leading boarding school with a rich history dating back to 1896.

Wycombe Abbey UK has long been celebrated for its academic excellence, consistently placing a remarkable number of students – roughly one-third annually – at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, with many others gaining admission to elite universities worldwide.

Since its inception, Wycombe Abbey Hong Kong has embodied the academic rigour and innovative spirit of its UK sister school. Having quickly established itself as a leading school in the region, it provides families with an exceptional British-style education, preparing graduates to attend top UK schools such as Wycombe Abbey UK, Eton College, and Cheltenham Ladies’ College.

Building on this success, Wycombe Abbey School Hong Kong will further expand its impact with the launch of its own senior school in August 2025 (pending EDB registration).

“It is wonderful to see that the team are fulfilling Wycombe Abbey’s aim to provide an outstanding holistic education to each child at Wycombe Abbey School Hong Kong.”

Mrs Jo Duncan

Headmistress at Wycombe Abbey School UK

Pastoral Care, Community, and Safeguarding

Pastoral Care

Creating a supportive environment is at the heart of our approach, ensuring every student feels valued, understood, and encouraged. Small class sizes ensure students build strong relationships with peers and teachers, fostering a close-knit community where they can thrive.

Dedicated form tutors provide individualised guidance, helping students develop socially, emotionally, and academically while building confidence, resilience, and independence. This holistic support system ensures that each student receives the care and mentorship needed to flourish both inside and outside the classroom.

Community

We cultivate a strong sense of community by hosting enriching events that bring parents and students together beyond the classroom.

From interactive wellbeing evenings featuring expert-led discussions on topics like digital wellness and student resilience to engaging weekend activities, we create meaningful opportunities for families to connect.

These initiatives foster lasting relationships, enhance student development, and strengthen our community.

Safeguarding

We prioritise student safety with the highest standards of safeguarding, ensuring a secure and supportive environment for all. A dedicated Senior Leadership Team member oversees comprehensive policies and procedures designed to protect student welfare at every level. Our safeguarding framework is continuously reviewed and strengthened, integrating best practices to uphold a culture of care and vigilance.

In addition, our rigorous staff recruitment and training process ensures that every member of our team is fully equipped to maintain a safe school community.
