Q&A with Ms. Mohimani

Tell us about your role at Wycombe Abbey School Hong Kong.
I am a Biology teacher, teaching both A-Level and IGCSE. My role is to guide students through advanced concepts in biology while encouraging them to think critically and creatively about the subject.

What inspired you to become a teacher?
When I was a teenager, I had teachers who were kind and supportive during my education. That experience left a lasting impression on me. I wanted to give that same sense of encouragement and belonging back to the world, which is what led me to teaching.

How would you describe your teaching style?
My teaching style is highly interactive and student-focused. I encourage participation, discussion, and hands-on learning so that students feel fully involved in their own progress.

What’s one thing you hope students take away from your teaching?
I want my students to remember science as a subject they enjoyed. Even if they don’t choose to continue with science in the future, I hope my classes leave them with curiosity, excitement, and positive memories of learning.

What do you love about Wycombe Abbey School Hong Kong?
I love the school’s warm, supportive environment that values both academic excellence and personal growth. It’s a community where students and teachers alike are encouraged to thrive, and I feel proud to be a part of it.

Are you involved in any extracurricular activities, school events, or initiatives?
Yes, I am involved in running the Basketball ECA, where I enjoy seeing students build teamwork, resilience, and confidence outside the classroom.

What book, movie, or song would you recommend to your students—and why?
I would recommend the TV series House. It follows a brilliant doctor whose investigative approach to medicine is much like Sherlock Holmes. It’s engaging, thought-provoking, and shows how persistence and curiosity can lead to solutions.

What are your hobbies or interests outside of school? What is a fun fact about yourself?
Outside of school, I love writing. Creating new worlds and stories for others to explore is one of my greatest joys. It allows me to balance creativity with my scientific background.

What are you looking forward to most this year?
I am most looking forward to seeing my students become more vocal and engaged in the classroom, growing in confidence as they share ideas and take ownership of their learning.

Ms. Mohimani’s reflections highlight the importance of curiosity, encouragement, and enjoyment in learning. Through her interactive, student-centred approach, she creates a classroom environment where pupils feel supported to explore ideas, ask questions, and develop confidence in their thinking.

We are delighted to have Ms. Mohimani as part of the WASHK Senior School team and look forward to the enthusiasm, insight, and inspiration she brings to Biology teaching this year.
