Friends of WASHK: Building a Stronger School Community
At WASHK, we believe in the power of a strong and engaged community. That’s why we’re proud to introduce the Friends of WASHK, a parent group dedicated to working alongside the school to:
- Strengthen the school community: By fostering a sense of belonging and collaboration among parents, teachers, and students.
- Enrich the pupil experience: Through engaging events, academic enrichment opportunities, and fundraising initiatives that directly benefit our students.
- Raise funds for the school/school charities: Supporting WASHK’s mission to provide an exceptional education and enriching environment for all students.
How the Friends of WASHK works:
Parent Representatives:
- Class representatives attend regular meetings to discuss school matters and assist with communication to parents.
- Organize termly class/year group social events, fostering connections and building a sense of community.
- Act as ambassadors for the school, attending events like open days and welcoming new families.
Academic Enrichment:
- Coordinate an academic enrichment program leveraging the expertise of parents. This may include school visits, assemblies, workshops, career advice, and reading programs.
- Assist in running an “entrepreneurship program,” drawing on parents’ experience and skills to inspire real-world activities for Key Stage 3 pupils.
Events:
- Assist in running various events, including whole-school celebrations, charity initiatives, and parent-teacher gatherings. Examples include International Day, charity hikes, beach cleans, charity dinners, quiz nights, and wine tastings.
Parent Advisory Group:
In addition to the Friends of WASHK, we are also forming a parent advisory group to provide support and guidance on key areas of school development and new initiatives.
Get Involved:
We encourage all parents to get involved and contribute to the success of this exciting initiative. By working together, we can create a vibrant and enriching environment where our children can thrive and reach their full potential.
