Vincci, a proud alumna of Wycombe Abbey Hong Kong, has carried the school’s lessons far beyond graduation. After completing Year 7 at Wycombe Abbey, she is now thriving in Year 8 at Mayfield Girls’ School in the UK. Reflecting on her journey, she shares how the school’s emphasis on authentic relationships, personal growth, and lifelong values prepared her for life abroad. With confidence and resilience, she continues to embrace new challenges.
Q: How did Wycombe Abbey School Hong Kong prepare you for your next steps—whether school, university, career, or personal growth?
Wycombe Abbey helped me a lot. It helped me understand the concept of studying in a British curriculum and what it will be like studying in a UK school as well as introducing to me a lot of opportunities in the UK by inviting schools from all over UK to come to Wycombe and tell us about their school. The school also provided me a lot of support and prepared me for the school entry exams, tutoring me Math, English and various other subjects ensuring that I understood.
Q: What skills or values from your time at Wycombe Abbey have been most valuable in your journey after school?
Wycombe Abbey taught me that true friendship is built on trust, support, and shared experiences. The friendships I formed there strengthened my resilience and shaped how I connect with others today. Learning to uplift, listen, and celebrate those around me has been invaluable in both personal and professional relationships. The lessons of loyalty and sincerity continue to guide me beyond school.
Q: Did the school’s academic or extracurricular programmes help you discover any passions or strengths?
While Wycombe Abbey offered a wide range of academic and extracurricular opportunities, I didn’t find any particular passion or strength. However, the experience still shaped me in important ways providing discipline, structure, and exposure to different perspectives. Even though I didn’t discover a personal passion, the school environment helped develop my ability to think critically, collaborate, and adapt, all of which have been valuable beyond school.
Q: Since leaving Wycombe Abbey, what achievements, passions, or leadership roles are you most proud of at your current school or beyond?
During my time away from Wycombe I have achieved several achievements that I am proud of, including a football most improvement award. I made it to different sports teams such as hockey, netball, cricket, football and even the Mayfield swimming team. I was made also the deputy head of our boarding house.
Vincci’s story beautifully illustrates how Wycombe Abbey Hong Kong’s greatest lessons often extend beyond academics. Whether our students stay in Hong Kong or study abroad, they carry forward the resilience, values and confidence nurtured within our community.
