Wycombe Abbey Hong Kong is thrilled to announce the launch of its new hockey program for pupils in Years 7 and 8. This exciting program is designed to support our pupils in exploring their potential in this dynamic sport.
Held at the Hong Kong Football Club, we’ve partnered with some of the top players and coaches in Hong Kong to provide our pupils with an exceptional learning experience. These coaches include:
- Gaggie Singh: Won a silver medal in the South Asian Games (representing India).
- Ahmed Ishtiaq: Currently representing Hong Kong China; Player of the Tournament at 12th Hong Kong Quadrangular Hockey Tournament 2024
- Dev Dhillon: Represented Hong Kong as Vice Captain for the Singapore tour in 2009.
- Norton Leung: 2 years in Hong Kong with FIH Level 2; Being selected to represent Hong Kong for the first time in U18 level.
Our Headmaster, Rob Fox, shared his enthusiasm for the program:
“This is a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to learn from the best and develop their skills in a fun and supportive environment. We’re committed to providing our pupils with a well-rounded education, and this program is a great example of how we’re doing that.”
The program kicked off with a session at the Hong Kong Football Club, where our senior pupils met their coaches and participated in a dynamic warm-up and skill-building activities. The coaches were impressed by the pupils’ enthusiasm and potential.
“The quality of the coaching is outstanding,” remarked the Mr Fox. “These elite athletes have a natural ability to connect with the children and create a positive learning environment. We’re confident that all our pupils will benefit from this program.”
The Year 5 and 6 pupils will also participate in the program, playing football at Wong Chuk Hang. We hope to expand the program to include other year groups and a wider range of sports and outdoor activities in the coming terms, giving all pupils the opportunity to develop both sporting and personal skills.
